What is a Resilient Organization?

We all take a beating from time to time.  There are those that recover and grow and those that buckle due to the damage.  A resilient organization is setup to anticipate and absorb the blows of an uncertain world.  They will flex, bend, and bounce back when faced with adversity.  I am here to help organizations strengthen their foundations and clarify their structures to weather whatever storm is coming.

How I Can Help

Every organization is unique.  My approach to being a management consultant is to have a conversation with leadership to find out where they are struggling, where they want to go, and identify opportunities.  After that conversation I will provide a Solutions and Action Plan that will identify the immediate and most impactful opportunities.  This plan will outline the steps and timeframes needed to take advantage of the opportunities identified.

  • Strategic planning
  • Ongoing management advice
  • Mission statements
  • Defining your points of differentiation
  • Determining who your customers are and the best way to market to them
  • Enhancing your customer journey which will lead to more retained customers and bigger impacts
  • Project management to ensure your ideas become reality

About John Cattanach

My career has been in the live events business.  The performing arts to be specific.  For over 25 years I worked in production backstage and in the administrative office.  I tackled budgeting, programming, audience development, and marketing among many tasks.  I spent the 12 years managing the 1600-seat Touhill Performing Arts Center in St. Louis.

This trajectory came to an end when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.  The mitigation measures shutdown live events worldwide for over a year.  I have always been known for my resilience and ability to adapt to changing conditions.    It was at this time that I decided to manifest that resilience by shifting focus and starting Resilient Stage Consulting.  My goal is to use my years of management experience to help organizations build resilience through better business practices so that they can weather the next COVID-like event.

The Accounting Equation for the Rest of Us

One of the first things you are taught when studying bookkeeping or accounting is the accounting equation which is Assets = Liabilities + Equity.  I had such a hard time getting this straight in my head because most people don’t ask what is the value of my assets?  They ask how much is my […]

Creative Accounting

Creative Accounting.  Sounds suspicious doesn’t it.  In many contexts it is a phrase to be weary of, but it can also refer to the creative side of accounting.  Most people think of accounting as cut and dry, boring, and unimaginative.  Well, it can be if you want it to be, but how you setup […]

Remember When Flying Was Fun?

Pre-9/11, taking a flight, especially a domestic flight, was a fairly enjoyable experience. There were some security measures in place but generally it was an open and casual experience for those traveling and those meeting travelers at the gate.  (Yes, you used to be able to meet someone at the gate as they came […]
